# Viewer defaults

> Choose how the map looks when visitors open your experience.

Find these settings in **General > Viewer defaults**.

| Setting | What it does |
| - | - |
| Starting floor | Choose the floor shown first from the floor names. |
| Starting zoom | **Automatic** fits the floor to each screen. **Custom** uses a fixed camera distance in metres, at least 5. |
| Starting tilt | `0` looks straight down. The maximum is 57.3 degrees. Hidden when **2D only** is on. |
| Starting rotation | Turns the opening view. Angles wrap to 0-360 degrees. |
| Starting view | **Set starting view** opens the map preview. The reset icon restores automatic framing and the default angles. |
| Lock rotation | Visitors can move and zoom, but not turn or tilt the map. |
| 2D only | Always shows the flat map and hides the 2D/3D button. |
| Street map | Shows the streets around the building. Available after the floor plan is placed on the map. See [Street map](https://cxdocs.planpoint.io/project/street-map.md). |

## Automatic or custom zoom

By default, the map opens fitted to the whole floor. With **Automatic** zoom, changing the starting tilt or rotation keeps automatic framing on computers and phones.

Choose **Custom** to enter a fixed camera distance. Existing custom opening views are kept. Number fields save when you leave the field or press Enter; press Escape to cancel a draft.

## Set the view on the map

1. Choose **Set starting view**.
2. Choose the floor, move and zoom the map, and adjust its rotation and tilt.
3. Choose **Use current view**.

This saves the floor, camera position, angles and zoom as a custom opening view. Closing the preview without choosing **Use current view** does not save its changes.

Choose **Reset to automatic** using the reset icon next to **Set starting view** to restore automatic framing and the default angles. This keeps your starting floor and other viewer settings.

After saving a custom view, open the **Planpoint URL** on a computer and on a phone to check that the important part of the map is visible.

## Lock rotation or 2D only?

* **Lock rotation** keeps your chosen tilt but stops visitors from turning it. The setup preview remains adjustable.
* **2D only** always shows the flat, top-down map.

Touchscreens can have their own opening view. See [Viewport and starting view](https://cxdocs.planpoint.io/touchscreens/camera-and-intro.md).
